Big Cities and Dutch Countryside
The region surrounded by Rotterdam and Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague is known as the Green Heart. This wetlands area was difficult to build on, so it's been mostly left in its natural state. Area residents harvest peat from the bogs in the Green Heart, which offers one of the quintessential views of the Netherlands: meadows filled with cattle, polders lying under stunning skies quaint farmhouses and lots of water! This tour takes you through several must-see villages, including Gouda, also known as "cheese town." You'll also pass through Amsterdam. Flat land covers this route, so it's an easy ride. As with all of our tours, you'll find your luggage waiting for you when you arrive at your destination.

When you finally reach Amsterdam, you'll have the opportunity to take in the city's romantic canals and bridge. From the moment you set foot in the city, you'll see that it's virtually made for exploration via bike. There are plenty of activities to engage in, whether you enjoy visiting art museums, taking in cultural experiences or just spending a night out on the town. You'll definitely want to take a boat tour of the city so that you can take in the stunning houses that line the canals.

Day Three: Amsterdam to Gouda (80 km) (*)
By the third day of your journey, you're trekking across the Green Heart, passing through traditional Dutch villages on your way. When you finally reach Gouda, you'll want to stop in at the Gothic-style town hall, which dates from 1450, and the Weigh House, which was built in 1667. The city's canals and St John's church should also be on your agenda. If you can, you may want to plan your journey so that on day four, you're waking up on a Thursday to experience the cheese market that is active during the morning. Also don't forget to stop in some of the local shops and restaurants to check out the homemade candles and try the waffles.
(*) If this day is to long for you, we invite you to split it into two days and spend the additional night in Woerden. (30 km and 49 km).
